Philadelphia Phillies Back ground
Even since they were first brought into the MLB, the Philadelphia Phillies have been a team that withstands the test of time, even if they haven’t always been on top. They are undoubtedly fighters, ready to win championships which haven’t come easily. The Braves and Blue Jays are two of their toughest opponents, and while they have seen a lot of good players, they have stayed a reasonably good team. Their jerseys are the colors of the American flag, which is appropriate for the team’s spirit.
Important players for the Phillies have ranged from several different people, but Joe Carter and Roy Halladay have been among their most notable ones. In fact just recently Hallday helped the team win against the Marlins in May of 2010 where he pitched an entirely perfect baseball game. The team has also had a lot of MVP awards including one for Cole Hamels. They have their own marker to showcase the Veterans Stadium where they once played all their home games.
Even though the team cannot really be considered a top MLB team, it is still fairly successful. While the Phillies have often played against more skilled teams, they have still made it to the world series more than a few times. In addition, they have a rivalry with the Mets that has persisted for a long time, and which has been a way for the two teams to compete in a fun way, with good sportsmanship – and a way to stir up their fans.
They have been around for more than 50 years and seen numerous victories. Some of these have won them pennant victories. They have played well even when faced with challenges. They haven’t become a top MLB team but they’ve still gotten a lot of star players over the numerous years they have played – though many have been traded to other teams.
Indeed, no team can be solely gaged by how many games it has won – and this team is no different. The Phillies have stayed true to their home spirit by persisting through several stadium changes and the changes of their team coaches, something that is always tough for a team to endure.
The Philadelphia Phillies have been able to play great baseball for years, and will definitely keep doing so. While they haven’t been in the top spots for the MLB rankings of their own division, they have still been very respectable on the whole for their years – and they have won a great fanbase, many of whom are dedicated to the one team alone.
It is undeniable that the Phillies have established themselves in the MLB’s history, thanks to their ability to be a good team under pressure, and throughout the trials of different coaches and stadiums. They have had numerous fans over the years and will continue to do so.
While some of the team’s fans have clamored about their jerseys, they are currently sticking to the design they have now. Time will tell whether or not this design stays popular with the team. The design of their jerseys is a largely individual thing so it is hard to say how much it will change in the coming years.
